Rocklin High School Reflection

Sitting on the hard track with my committee around me watching the fireworks burst above me while the tears are rolling down my face, I finally realize that all the work was worth it. The thought of being the reason behind a glimpse of happiness within someone’s life has always been a motivating factor within my own. During my sophomore year of high school I was given the opportunity to join student government and was placed in the special programs committee. While in this committee I worked with six other girls to plan and execute events for the student body as well as the entire community of Rocklin. Knowing that the stress of planning and pulling off these events was providing so many people with lifelong memories made it all seem worthwhile. …show more content…
The preparation began months in advance, including multiple meetings over the summer, before and after school, as well as on the weekends. Once the theme was picked in May, the committee and I had to start our preparation for the game in October. As the school year began we had to finalize all aspects of the skit for the pregame show, which involved perfecting the script through multiple practices done by our very own committee, choosing actors from the students at Rocklin, finding costumes, painting backdrops and creating props. Along with that, our committee was in charge of all aspects of the royal court, meaning we advertised for students to nominate, carried out the voting process, and announced the winners. Once it came time for the game, through a dealership in our town we were fortunate enough to have brand new BMWs donated for the night for the royal court to ride in while they were being announced. With all that explained, I am hoping that the extent of our hard work is clearly represented. Although being a part of the Special Programs committee was a huge commitment, it turned out to be one of the most memorable and fulfilling parts of my high school

It is a great pleasure to recommend Rachel Sitasz for admission to the Edward Hospital Student Volunteer Program. She is one of the most empathetic, kind, and exceptional humans I have encountered in my 14 years of teaching. I teach Rachel in my 8th grade advanced ELA class. Her academics, character, innate curiosity, intrinsic motivation, ethical standards, and unwavering desire to give back, have put Rachel in a class of her own. In fact, for the first time in over 25+ years, the eighth-grade team created a brand new end-of-the-year award for our graduation awards assembly.…

Governor’s School Last summer, I attended governor's school west where three hundred and twenty-five bright and open-minded students from all across North Carolina gathered for five and a half weeks in a college campus setting. To me, this was a big milestone in life that changed me for the better. We left our cozy lives of families and friends to start with a clean slate with strangers we’ve never seen in our lives. At first, we thought of it as a sacrifice of our summer to glamorize our college application, but throughout the program we experienced things that exceeded beyond our expectations.…

There was a warm satisfaction I always felt prior to rallies as I frantically rushed around ensuring everyone was on the right cue. I was passionate about rallies because they were the one event where groups from different parts of the school congregated to support one another. Junior year, I became pep commissioner and was delegated with the task of directing rallies for the year. Upon being handed the job, I was left with no guidance since the previous pep commissioner graduated. As a result, I persevered learning from my mistakes with each rally as the year progressed.…

I assisted the Granby Public Schools Facilities Department / Custodial Staff in helping to clean various schools over the duration of the 2015 summer vacation. During my time there, I helped to meet a variety of daily cleaning needs around both the middle school and the high school; cleaning lockers, sweeping floors, setting up computers, delivering packages, and the like. The most valuable lesson I learned all the while was that there is no right way to do a job as long as it gets done. All things considered, I would hope to be given the opportunity to return to work again in the future; it was a great experience and I'm thankful to have been a part of…
