The only reason this movie kept my attention was because of the 80s rock music that was featured in it. I thought the acting in the movie was acceptable. The people who did the screenplay did a good job with transitioning from normal conversation into song, but I felt that a lot of the dialog in the movie was rushed and incomplete. Despite this also being a partial comedy I found very little instances where I actually chuckled or even cracked a smile. Tom Cruise’s role in the movie as Stacee Jaxx was very limited, and terrible overall. The relationships between the characters even felt forced and ungenuine. Overall I felt this movie was ok, but I would not personally recommend the

Written and directed by John Duigan with spectacular honesty and sensitivity, the movie features a fifteen-year-old Danny, who experiences a stereotypical coming of age when he falls heavily in love for his childhood friend, an independent and quickly maturing Freya, who has a bundle of dark secrets up her sleeves. When the wild, fascinating and constantly-in-trouble Trevor captures Freya’s heart and ends up getting her pregnant, Danny is strained into a situation that he’s not emotionally compatible to deal with. The landscape of the movie portrays a small town in New South Wales in 1962.The town looks typical, or at least shares similarity with many Australian films. It is also strangely familiar because it bears resemblance movie sets for old westerns, with scruffy little wooden houses set along a dusty main street and magnificent hills and wide plains in the background.…

What did you like about this script? There were a few aspects about this script that I really enjoyed, such as Dovie and Avis’ characters. They each have stern, comical, snappy, and sometimes grumpy demeanors. The two seem to reject all new or unfamiliar things that were not around when they were younger which opens up extensive possibilities for comedic situations and one-liners.…

At Turtle Rock, a lot of improvements can be made by just evaluating one of their threats: the set, repetitive, schedule that creates time constraints and limits the students from participating in challenging and engaging activities. Below are some research based theories and principles on why the set schedule is a threat to the youth participants and what the potential solutions there are. There is too much unstructured play time. Students spend a maximum of 4 hours a day at the program, but approximately 2 of those hours are allocated to inside free play and outside time. I often see kids just walking around, trying to find something to do.…

Believe it or not, I was not terribly excited to see 1982’s “Sophie’s Choice” until only recently. It was a film I always planned on seeing, if only to see the titular choice that film lovers refer to when saying a decision is impossibly difficult, but I didn’t especially look forward to the experience. Then, I saw Alan J. Pakula’s “All the President’s Men.”…

The film did a good job of portraying family and romantic relationships. Although Anna and Hans relationship was rushed and in the moment that can actually happen to some people, whether or not those relationships work out in the end is up to the people within that relationship. The two sisters relationship did seem a bit far fetched however, I could not understand how Elsa thought it would just be best that she completely ignore her sister for years thinking that would help her instead of harm her. They are family so they should have been able to communicate and at of the end of the day still love each other. Lastly, the friendship between Kristoff and Sven was my favorite relationship in the film because although they are human and animal they still have a deep connection and trust that I can understand just from comparing it to my relationship with my pets.…

Dead End Drive-In is another flick in a long line of random horror films from the 80s that I haven't seen. IT seems there is a good amount out there waiting to be experienced and Arrow Video is bringing them out on Blu-ray for just that purpose alone. Directed by Brian XXX (Night of the Demons 2), Dead End Drive-In came out in XXX and is known as an Ozploitation flick, much in the same line as Mad Max. It delivers a message on the downfall society and the feuding between the haves and the Have-nots. However, the message becomes muddled during the XXX runtime, as events plod along at a slow pace, not providing enough oomph to keep most viewers invested for the long haul.…

Forrest Gump Forrest Gump is a famous fictional film that documents the life of a simple man who experiences many historical occurrences from the 1950’s to the early 1980’s. Written under the genres of both Drama, Romance and Comedy, it manages to capture the essence of all three (mostly doing its best work between comedy and drama). Its wit and humor will make you laugh while its honesty, tragedy and sentimentality encourage reflection. The movie succeeds not only in content, but execution, pertaining specifically to the special effects artists who were able to place Forrest amidst many historical events and people in various footage.…

I personally enjoyed the film, although they suggested the events that were to occur later, I kept watching with enthusiasm because I wanted to see how they would play out. The diction that the brothers used throughout the film created a negative attitude towards them, although Winthorpe and Billy Ray were the ones to be involved in a legal mess, other characters gained sympathy. Ophelia and Coleman were the ones I was rooting for, they had a job of taking care of others needs from the beginning of the film, and were taken advantage of without receiving appreciation. The wealthy characters such as Penelope and her friends, through the diction and the events were not very liked. The story plaid on a serious issue, which was people’s overwhelming need to consume no matter who or how many people they took advantage of.…
