Although rock music is often associated with the darker aspect of society, such as sex drugs, suicide, and violence, this type of music has proven to have made a positive impact since its beginning in America in the 1950’s. Not only has rock music played a role in boosting the economy, but it has had a huge influence on film, fashion, pop culture, and politics.
Rock N’ Roll’s first appearance in cinema wasn’t a surprise it spread like a wildfire as did the genre of music in itself, beginning in the 50’s. Rock N’ Roll met no stranger when first introduced to the world in the 50’s it swept over everyone as if it was a part of life affecting everyone and everything, including the film industry. Bill Haley And His Comets also known as Bill Haley And the Comets or Bill Haleys Comets was one of the first bands to take a role in the world of film. “The employment of Bill Haley And The Comets “Rock Around The Clock” during the open credits of 1955’s Blackboard Jungle is regarded as the first use of rock in cinema” (Brunson). Rock N’ Roll has a lot of emotion in it just like a movie has a moral and the two put together can be powerful. Sam Raimi’s 2002 Spider-Man Includes a rock song by Chad Kroeger Feat Josey Scott on the soundtrack titled “Hero.” The song, in itself, does such a phenomenal job of portraying the hero in the movie, Rock N’ Roll adds emotion to what a film already is and creates it to be more moving.
