Rock And Roll Concert Review Essay

This was my first rock and roll concert that I have ever attended. It was an amazing experience to witness live the energy of this genre of music. During the concert, the spontaneity in the artists’ improvisations, musical communications of the artists by their listening to each other’s instruments, the guitarist’s hair shaking and lively performance, the guitarist’s and the bassist’s jumps in the middle of the songs reflecting their musical expression, and the bassist’s impromptu singing in a song made this a unique concert. The singer, bass player, drummer, and electric guitarist were standing in the standard rock and roll stage setup with the singer in the middle, the accompaniment next to her, and the drums behind her. The audience’s added …show more content…
The strong beats of the accompaniment to the singer brought life to the music, bringing a dance-feel to it. In addition, the singer had a wide vocal range, with which she changed her pitch to a higher register in robata pieces and a medium pitch in allegro, staccato notes. What I also appreciated about the singers and the accompanying artists was that they tried to include the audience by telling us stories of how they composed some of the songs and the significances of the pieces. Learning the context made the music more relatable. For instance, in the concert one song was composed by the bass player in Swedish, showing the audience his cultural background and his heritage. In addition, another piece was a poem that the guitarist wrote to the singer for her birthday. These anecdotes allowed me to connect the movement, dynamics, tempos, and lyrics of the pieces with their meanings. Some specific songs they played during the concert were: a cover for No Diggity, a cover for the Street Light Manifesto, Ghosts, and House of the Rising

The concert was presented by University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Department of Music’s UNC Jazz Band on Saturday, October 10th, 2015. The concert venue was located at UNC Kenan Music Building’s Rehearsal Hall. It started from 8pm to 9.40 pm. Compared to all the other concerts that I have gone to, the UNC Jazz Band concert was a definite change in atmosphere as it was a large band consisted of students. The stage was set up really well and has a nice lighting.…

As stated before the concert was not what I was expecting. I enjoyed it more than I believed I would, it certainly isn’t my new favorite type of music, but understanding aspects of it gave me a greater appreciation for the music and the musicians. Things such as a recognizable basso ostinato set by the base player were a familiar starting point. When the soloists needed an accompaniment the bassist varied the continuous rhythm to compliment what the soloist was playing, otherwise, the beat was…

Every day, I try to listen to a new piece of music. Whether it be a string group, unaccompanied choir, or even a percussion consort, I believe that by doing this, so much can be learned from just listening. About the mid-month of July, I came across this piece of music. I thought it was extremely fun and quirky at the same time! I had continued to listen to it, read some background information on the piece, and do a small amount of study on the work.…

Now there were a couple songs in this but I really enjoyed the first one the best, so I focused on that song more but many of the songs are similar in there beat. This concert had four instruments all of which were string instruments which allowed for the song to flow better with each instrument. I love the sound of violin and viola together, while the cello and guitar are strumming at a lower beat than them. Overall this concert was amazing I could see and hear so much beauty through the entire performance.…

I do not think any words could have truly described how I nor the rest of the audience felt during that performance. The opinions and analogies of the pieces found in the program notes did slightly influence me. I agreed with and understood most opinions and comments of the performances. The listenings I did for my pre-concert assignment were not nearly the same thing as being in the auditorium. It was a completely different experience to see, hear and feel the performance in person as opposed to watching a video on a screen and trying to listen to the depth of the orchestra through…

The first song that Stephanie Aaron sang was a light hearted song about not being happier than with her (person) and dancing cheek to cheek. The song was very reminiscent of a certain video game franchise which made me like it even more. The concert mostly consisted of songs including the piano and singer, ensemble and singer, or just the ensemble. The variety in the performance was very refreshing and made for a “unforgettable” experience.…

My paper’s approach to Louis Armstrong’s small band performance in Australia is organized by song. In each of these song sections, I describe what is generally going on. Intermixed amongst my musical review, I also interject my personal feelings and perceptions to what is occurring. I have organized my structure this way in order to provide a methodical structure to my analysis. Louis Armstrong starts playing the trumpet in the first song, “When It’s Sleepy Time Down South,” almost immediately after walking onto the stage.…

Concert Report Two The concert performance given live that I have attended on Thursday April 20th, 2017 was an organ licentiate recital by Ian Guenette. It was held at the Redpath Hall, a building located on McTavish street. The Redpath Hall was first dedicated for a library building, but is now taken charge by the Schulich School of Music. The Hall is very charming with its high selling that contains thick dark brown carved wodden beams that covers the intire ceiling and gives warmth to the room.…

The emotions expressed by not only the music but by how the musicians looked while playing these pieces made me believe that this show meant a lot to them because they would sway to the music when they weren’t playing. It had my emotions spiral out of control because some of the music was happy then it turned sad in an instance, then it would go right back to something whimsical. It’s not the typical kind of music that I would listen to daily but I am happy that I got to attend this event and hear something that I wouldn’t normally.…
