For this assignment, I attended a Parent Teacher Student Organization (PTSO) chili cook off event followed by a student dance. This event was held at Eastern Randolph high school in Ramseur, North Carolina. This is a small school surrounded primarily by agriculture and Ramseur is a small town of less than 2,000. The community members are mostly alumni of the school and have had generations attend Eastern. Because of this connection, the community is big supporters of school athletic events and other performances.…
Benefits from the band can be seen in among the students, alumni, staff, and the fans’ sense of pride and spirit in the college community…
The Thundertones as a Social Network The Thundertones have been a central part of my social network during my time at Wheaton College. Thundertones is an a cappella group that pulls its members exclusively from the Wheaton College Men’s Glee Club. Being an elite section of a larger group gives the Thundertones an interesting social network in side of the Men’s Glee Club; however, due to the limitations of this project I have chosen to focus primarily on the social network of the Thundertones itself. I have spent a lot of time with the Thundertones, both inside and outside of rehearsals.…
Being a senior in showchoir is a challenge! Many of the underclassmen look to you for advice or seek help when they need it. My leadership skills were also pushed last year and this year for “Dancing with the Teachers”, which is a show the showchoir puts on early in the school year. We are split into groups of about 6 or 7 out of the 40 or so members, and then we must select a teacher to be in each of our groups. We, being the seniors, then have to create a mix of songs and a dance to perform in this show.…
Being in FBLA and BETA club, we’re sometimes in charge of decorating for school dances and activities and being apart of that it’s really made me value that teamwork quality and even teach…
It is 2014, I am 14 and it’s 5:00 am on a Saturday morning, I am just waking up to go to NEIBA (Northeast Iowa Band Association). 9 other band members will be going too. We have all been selected to participate in the 8th grade honor band. This is not the first time that I have gone to one of these associations.…
In my two years studying at Jurong Junior College, I have decided to join the Guitar Ensemble to expand my knowledge of music; to add on to my prior experiences of learning the electronic organ during the younger years of my life. I have certainly picked up on the basic skills of playing the guitar and even received the chance of being the leader of one of the sections, however, more importantly, I have stepped down from this CCA bringing back extremely useful skills such as team work, diligence as well as perseverance, which will certainly help me to improve my attitude towards life. This is even more apparent as we participated in the Singapore Youth's Festival Arts Exhibition in 2015, as we stayed back for long hours in school to perfect the techniques and performance within each section, as well as among all the sections in the ensemble, whilst making sure to keep a balance with my studies as well. Though there were some conflicts within the team during this tense period, the problems are quickly ironed out as we worked together and managed to clinch a Certificate of Achievement.…
As I was walking towards the door getting closer to the entrance of the NorCal Harvesting office I observed and looked at my surroundings. The weather was pleasant and windy, the birds whistling and singing a charming melody and people walking in and out of the building. For a minute, I was observing and paying close attention to my surroundings and thought to myself “How lucky am I to be here today”, I looked back and saw the big parking space that the office has which has the perfect size to organize and plan an event. Last week the team members of El Jardin and I got together and discussed the successes and challenges of the program. One of the biggest challenges and concerns of the program is analyzing why students are not showing up to the program and why is the program not becoming successful.…

Rock n’ Roll is a worldwide known music genre. It originated in the 50’s with the king, Elvis Presley. It was a fast-paced music that was known to include guitars, basses, drums and even piano, at times. When this movement originated, there were a lot of great musicians like Bill Haley, who wrote “Rock around the clock”, or Chuck Berry that wrote a lot of great classic rock songs like “Johnny B. Goode”, plus there was Little Richard and Jerry Lee Lewis. Later, came rock bands like Fast Dominoes and The Rolling Stones, but one band was able to demark themselves.…
The announcements fail to recognize certain clubs, and the information they state is too brief for students to understand the benefits the clubs can offer. Most students are not aware that simple clubs, such as Poetry Aloud, offer money rewards…
I wanted to lead Alameda High School’s Ski Club since Freshmen year. Skiing is different from other sports. I love hearing the snow beneath my skis, and the views are breathtaking. I’ve been skiing since I was three years old and was ecstatic when I realized there was a Ski Club. I loved my first high school ski trip because of our communal bond over the love for snow.…

Owing to GSHS, I have had the privilege of participating in Sunshine Society (4 years), Beta Club (4 years), Anti-Bullying Club (4 years), Fifth Quarter Committee (2 years), and FFA (1 year). In addition, I have been the 2016 class treasurer for two years.…
As a senior in high school I am applying for colleges, and have been asked to provide a personal statement essay. I have been asked to talk about my interests and social skills, as well as the activities I have participated in. I can say I have not had as many life experiences as some of my classmates, but I have been in a wealth of extracurricular clubs and organizations that have sharpened my skills in the community. I have also devoted a fair amount of my time to school and my class work, some of my classmates, teachers and administrators have praised me for my devotion to putting a full effort into all my class work.…
