Team Project: Manpower Study

Improved Essays
The Team Project The main objective of this project was to conduct a manpower study to determine the optimal crew compliment for the newly modified E-3G (Block 40/45) Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS). The project is currently still in progress, nearing the final stages of completion of crew selection. My goal is to explain how the project team was selected and led/managed through the project to the current progress point of the project. As previously presented, with the new modifications and the superior performance of the mission system computer installed on the aircraft, as a result the number of people required to perform the mission has been reduced. Before I set out the proposed team roles let me share some of my personal and professional background. I am Airborne Communications Technician (flying radio repair) aboard the E-3B/C/G AWACS assigned to the 552nd Air Control Wing Tinker AFB. I have been performing this job for over 25 years, and over the years have been on several different aircraft. At the time the project team was being assembled I had a 2,000 flying hours on the E-3 AWACS and a total of 5,000 hour on other military aircraft. Over my military career I have also had the opportunity to be part of past teams assigned with similar tasks as the E-3G …show more content…
I was selected to be a member of what most people would call an executive council. Our job was to monitor and guide the progress of the several sub-groups that made up the entire team. In the initial meeting the entire team met several times to be able to discuss the goals of the assigned project and to start to break down into the smaller working groups by tasks. Besides being part of the progress meeting I sat down with several of the individual team leads and received progress reports and gave guidance on possible solutions to issues that some teams were encountering. Finally I worked with a team to develop the data collection points and collection media that would be used on the aircraft to document the desired information from the E-3B/C aircraft to determine possible crew consolidation on the E-3G. So overall I would consider that I acted in the manager role during this project.
Conclusion
For this assignment, the E-3G manpower requirements project was presented was presented as the subject that required the creation of a team to ensure project completion. Next we discussed the possible roles that I could fulfill within the team for the proposed project. We then looked at the elements required to achieve a successful outcome for this project. Finally we discussed the actual roles and contributions that I fulfilled to the team during the execution of the
