Introduction
Eric Newman is the founder and CEO of Roc Solid Foundation, which is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization that primarily builds and creates playsets for children battling childhood cancer. Additionally for children between the ages of 8 and 17 years old, the organization remodels bedrooms, to create a personal space that provides an escape from the battle that these children and adolescents are currently facing. The organization further seeks to give hope and encouragement to those battling childhood cancer by giving iPads to teenagers as a way to escape during treatments and medical procedures; they provide ready bags to newly diagnosed cancer patients that includes the basic necessities needed during a hospital stay; and host survivor parties for …show more content…
Newman and his family has 10-12 years personal experience dealing with childhood cancer; as it ran very strongly in his family, with multiple family members being diagnosed. Further, Mr. Newman himself was diagnosed with liver cancer at the age of 5, but through the power of God, prayer, and effective doctors, he stands today as a 32 year childhood cancer survivor. These experiences and the experiences of those within his organization drives Mr. Newman’s vision to significantly increase the awareness of childhood cancer. As a result of finding God and his purpose, the Roc Solid Foundation was conceived. Six years later, the mission and the impact of the organization continues to grow each year. Their mission is to give hope to these children and families through the power of play. Further, Mr. Newman leads an administration team and a team of up to 130 volunteers. In addition to leading a team of volunteers and organizing playset constructions, Mr. Newman also organizes fundraisers to obtain funding for his organization; host events to raise awareness for the organization and childhood cancer; run the day-to-day operation of the organization; and he is responsible for marketing and building
