History of robotic surgery: Although a lot of factors such as economics, managed health care system and other regulations have contributed to the change in landscape of surgery in the hospitals. Nothing causes this sudden change in the health system as the introduction of a new revolutionary technology soon to make impact. The change has crept its way so fast that new term, disruptive technology is applied to signify such abrupt and radical change in a short period of time. A brief and interesting look at how all these robotic surgery we are seeing and experiencing today started. It all started with the ancient Greek, where robots started to emerge the name robots as depicted began to …show more content…
As history began to unfold its self with the first automata creatures in 1300 B.C the first ever kind was known as the statue of Memnon, which is the king of Ethopia created by Amentep, the son of Hapu. This statue was activated mainly by the rising of the sun and the playing of music. Some of the primary displays of the robots as compared to other automata statue that were also created where humanoid creation which were found in the ancient Greek mythology some of the myths during this era also referred to the mechanical humans, a statue which could talk and have a soul like any other human being, the artificial beings which did not have any soul or cold talk where know as gods. A typical example would be Hephaestus which is also known in the Roman myth as Vulcanus was known as the god of fire, volcanoes. It was known to all in this era that the craftsman, who worked and designed with metal, was a blacksmith called by many as the god of stone construction and sculpture. During this time Hephaestus according to the Pantheon of gods at that time was considered the legal son of Zeus and Hera. These myths and stories …show more content…
Robotic surgery: The impacts of robotic general surgery course on participants surgical practice compared to the traditional surgery has raised a lot of questions in the minds of patients and surgeons as to which one is more efficient in performing a well done job than the other. A course including lectures, live surgeries, as well as hands on section are part of a suggested curriculum for robotic surgery. However, for the general surgery which is is also known to be the traditional surgery this approach is poorly reported during the study of how the two works. The purpose of the study was to draw a sound conclusion of the impact of robotic surgery course on the practice of participants. Study shows that between 2007 and 2011, 101 participants attended the Geneva International Robotic surgery course, held by the University Hospital in Geneva, Switzerland. This two day course included theory include a list of itineraries like lectures, dry lab, live surgery and also a hand on session on cadavers. This live course and comparison of the traditional method or surgery and that off the robotic assisted surgery included hands on session with cadaver, which is an effective educational method of spreading robotic skills. How every this course became beneficiary to those attendees whose institutions already has a robotic system available? Laparoscopy robotics has revolutionized the simple persistent approach in surgery. Since the inception of this
