Introduction
Prologue
I looked beyond the clear dome that sheltered and protected our people for almost two decades. My eight-year-old face pressed against the glass in astonishment. I was thankful that our unit happened to be at the edge of the West Division.

O nce the student bodies at all of the Catholic high schools in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, both the sixteen that were Archdiocesan controlled and the eight that were Archdiocesan associated, were dismissed, the same also occurred for the faculty and staff. But over the course of the next several hours, however, IDA commandos secretly infiltrated the grounds of Archbishop Robertson, accessing it by means of a Teleportation Transponder from its Otherworld version. In the wake of their arrival, the alarm systems were disabled, preventing anyone in the outside world from knowing what was going on inside the hallways and classrooms. Soon the opposing force had the entire complex on lockdown, making an overt attack too risky.…

The Battle of Liberty (Confederate Victory) The date was September 17, 1861. I remember only because I wrote a letter home that very morning. I could tell early that day that things were brewing, all the men could. Myself and the others sat in a circle around the remnants of the fire waiting for orders to move, like a pack of dogs lingering over the remnants of a meal.…

The last couple of months have been dreadful. It was filled with exhaustion, boredom, false hope, and above all, plenty of freezing. It all started when we left the steamboat that brought Martin and me all the way from Seattle to the Yukon. The second we placed a foot on the ground, stampedes of other prospectors hurried along the harbor, as every moment that they were ahead of the others bought them a bigger chance in hitting it big in the mines. This is what they believed in the beginning, at least.…

I have conquered numerous mountains, but I might not be able to climb another one. Back in August 2015, I and my friends took a trip to East Java as a graduation present for ourselves. There were 3 mountains in our itinerary: Mount Merapi, Mount Bromo and Mount Ijen. My father once said that a good mountain climber should have three essentials: strength, determination and humbleness. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the last one as I used to be an arrogant person that time.…

The sky was engulfed with hopes and prayers of the soldiers that inhabited the wasteland below. Rain fell like pellets soaking everything it could reach. My clothes hung limply off my body, dripping with the water that was flowing from the grey stained sky.
