Robin Roberts is a co-anchor of ABC's “Good Morning America”. She is adored by many fans and people in the industry. Although she had highs and lows, Robin Roberts has had an interesting journey of her becoming a newscaster.
Born in 1960, Roberts grew up in a small town in Mississippi. Her father, Lawrence E. Roberts, was famous for being a black fighter squadron, the Tuskegee Airmen. Her mother, Lucimarian Tolliver, is the first African-American to head the Mississippi Board of Education. The Roberts family has a strong, faithful, and trusting family bond. (Roberts)

WFPR hired her as an assistant news director under the wing of the wonderful Mary Pirosko. Having a job and being in college was not easy. It was not easy for Robin to have full loaded classes, playing basketball and working at the radio station. It was tough for her.(Roberts)
In 1983, Roberts finished school from Southeastern Louisiana University with a bachelor of Arts degree in communications. She was a standout player on the women’s basketball team, ending her career in 1,446 points for leading scores and 1,034 points for rebounder. ( Robin Roberts Biography) After college she wanted to branch out her career. She sent many audition tapes but they were sent back with “REJECTION”. Her wake-up call came when WLOX offered her the prime time news anchor position. Even though it was a big promotion she knew in her heart that she wouldn’t be happy and politely decline. Later on during her career WSMV offered Robin a interview.(Roberts)
The interview was a success and informed her when a opening was available. Few months later the station called her for a opening at WSMV for a lifestyle reporter. While WAGA she received a call from ESPN. With two amazing offers she had to decide which one to take. From 1990

Since staying at ABC hosting Wide World , the staff of GMA asked Robin if she can host the sports segment from time to time. In early 2005 she was asked to become full-time GMA co-anchor. At first she was quite nervous but then said yes. The broadcast won four Emmy Awards for outstanding morning program. She is honored with Walter Cronkite Award for for excellence in Journalism, inducted into Broadcasting & Cable Hall of Fame. (Robin Roberts Biography)
In June of 2007 went downhill for Roberts. She was diagnosed with breast cancer.
Sadly in June of 2012 she was diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome. This disease is a rare disease of the blood and bone marrow once known as preleukemia. She was given less than two years to live. This is the biggest story of her career. She let her viewers see it all. All three of her siblings were tested for a perfect match bone marrow transplant and her sister Sally-Ann was
