Roberto Valenzuela

The intent of this letter is to express my wholehearted recommendation for Roberto Valenzuela as a superb candidate for the position at Terros Health. Given my prior work experience with Roberto, I have no doubt that he will be a valuable asset to your organization.

I had the pleasure to meet Roberto, in 2012, during his employment at People of Color Network (POCN). At that time, I was the clinical supervisor for the children’s department at La Frontera-EMPACT-Suicide Prevention Center (EMPACT-SPC). As you may know, POCN oversaw high needs case management (HNCM) services for EMPACT-SPC and other behavioral health provider agencies that offered children’s services. I had a close relationship, therefore, with many of the HNCM/Supervisors/Directors employed at POCN. Even before meeting Roberto, it was obvious that his peers held him in high respect. His excellent reputation in the behavioral health community alludes to mastery in intrapersonal and interpersonal intelligence. Of course, I had the opportunity to witness these and other qualities as a colleague at Touchstone Behavioral Health (now known as Touchstone Health Services).

After I heard about POCN closing, I immediately recommended that Touchstone recruit Roberto. This was an easy sell since the CEO was familiar with Roberto’s good reputation in the community. He was immediately recruited and came onboard as one of Touchstone’s senior leadership. At Touchstone, Roberto’s was an invaluable and respected member of the leadership

First, the case worker should have coordinated preliminary treatment plans for the initial stages of Gabriel’s placements. Here, the worker should have referred foster parents to speak with specialists or attend educational/informational classes on caring for children with unique social, cultural, and behavioral barriers. A class such as this would have been geared toward educating foster parents on identifying common behavioral disturbances, how to respond to future issues, and, importantly, warning signs of suicidal ideations. Plans set forth by the case worker should have also included family therapy sessions to better prepare Gabriel and his foster parents for their transitions in living situation. Next, the case worker should have worked together with the foster parents in collectively coordinating a step-by-step ongoing treatment plan to aid in Gabriel’s recovery, including continued family therapy sessions and weekly reports from the foster parents updating the case worker on Gabriel’s progress, changes in behavior, and/or any concerns that may have arisen.…

As a former foster youth, I have confronted several emotional factors in my life, causing me to rethink the type of person who I am. When I emancipated from my group home, I had no desire to enroll in college or look for any type of occupation, but just to return to my family and visit my old friends. It was not until one person who convinced me to rethink my decisions before it was too late, his name was Esteban Lara, a former worker at my previous group home. I have developed a close attachment toward him, seeing him as a mentor, seeing he was one of the few people I could talk to. He did not want me to throw away my life in the streets, so I could just hangout with a couple of friends and get trouble with the police department.…

The person who inspires me the most is soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo, he isn't just a normal soccer player to me he is my inspiration and my motivation to never stop trying, never give up, and doing the best I can. This belief is important to me because during my own personal struggles as a kid I looked up to Ronaldo as a role model someone who I could relate to and make a personal connection with. I have come to develop this belief because even with Cristiano's struggles in life he was still able to do what everyone claimed to be impossible, change the way million's of people view the sport of soccer. When I first witnessed Cristiano Ronaldo play soccer I didn't think of him as anything special just another ordinary Portuguese soccer player, but as his talent started to improve so…
