1. Robert Moses played a very important part in shaping the physical environment of New York City. Robert Moses built almost every major road, parkway, tunnel, beach, pool, causeway, and expressway in New York City and Long Island from the 1920’s through the 1960’s. The Long Island Expressway is the largest highway. The Northern State Parkway transitions from the Grand Central Parkway in the Lake Success area and continues eastward to Hauppauge where it runs into Route 347.
