Robert Klein Opening Act Summary

Decent Essays
I am the opening act for Robert Klein so basically I warm up the audience with show-stopping hits, about 30-40 minutes of my one-woman show with a live trio band then he comes out to do his magic which includes telling jokes and stories and singing a few numbers that I remember to be both hilarious and touching The audiences down here absolutely love him. I've had the pleasure of meeting and performing with Mr Klein before. He is extremely kind and generous so I'm looking forward to the 4 shows I will do with him coming up in

The first scene of act three of The Crucible by Arthur Miller begins with the courthouse questioning an accused Martha Corey of witchcraft. In attempts to save his wife from imprisonment, Giles Corey claims that accusing Martha of witchcraft was just one way Thomas Putnam was getting back at them for personal resentment concerning land disputes. With that, he is escorted out of the courtroom. Desperate to prove his wife’s innocence, Giles tries to convince Judge Hathorne, Deputy Governor Danforth, Ezekiel Cheever, and Parris by saying how they have six hundred acres of land to tend to, as well as the court is holding his wife by mistake. He goes as far as to say that Hale, who came to Salem to investigate further, never once accused her of…

Tobias Wolff’s “The Liar” from his collection of short stories entitled Our Story Begins tells the story of James, a teenage pathological liar who, after the death of his father, begins to fabricate gruesome stories about his life. James’ mother, Margaret, a devout Christian who is disturbed by her son’s constant lying, relies on the assistance of both God and the family physician to help “cure” him. Wolff structures this story tactfully, revealing significant information in a way that seems natural and deliberate. He drops the reader into the story with very little background information about the characters, gradually revealing key information about their pre-existing lives as the story progresses. Nicholas Hytner may have chosen to open the film with the scene of Tituba and the girls dancing in the forest to provide context for the coming events in the story. By showing this scene, the audience can infer that Betty decides to fake her illness in order to evade punishment from her father, Reverend Parris, who walks in on the girls’ nighttime activity in the forest. This opening scene also provides a clue about Abigail’s infatuation with John Proctor, since the other girls in the scene make requests concerning boys to Tituba, and also say to her, “Get her [Abigail] John Proctor, Tituba!”. Additionally, the inclusion of this scene in the movie provides a visual for proof of later references, such as when whether Parris saw someone naked…
