Leaders matter greatly but without a follower, there won’t be any leaders. Followers or followership is one of the underrated concepts in an organisation. Leadership and followership are two faces of a single coin. In organisation leaders and followers rely on each other and it is mutually exclusive and both are closely related. When a person joins an organisation, he is just an employee but a Leader is the one who ignites followership and forges him to be a good follower. Similarly, the leaders are backed by the hard works of effective followers who defines the leader. Every leader I believe was at some stage of his career was an effective follower and every effective follower has some leadership skills in him and would aspire to be a leader someday. We were introduced to the Robert Kelley model of followership in the course of our lectures. Robert Kelly model introduces us to the different styles of followership, which as per him are of 5 types spread across two dimensions.
