Robert Herjavec was born on September 14, 1962 in Croatia (formerly Yugoslavia). His family left the country when he was eight to escape a communist regime. At the time, he spoke no English. They arrived in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and eventually settled in Toronto, Canada. Robert Herjavec graduated from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor’s in English literature.
