In “Mowing” the persona is very engaging in his work and shows a love for tins around him. Being focus is the key to get the job done carefully, and the mower shows great interests in the environment that he works in. He pays attention to the little things such as the sound the scythe makes. He pays so close attention that the “heat of the sun” do not affect his view of the environment (line 4). Through his dedication, the persona shows that he can work in any environment, but as he is cutting the grass he sees a “bright green snake” (line 12). Once he gets there he looks for the man with the scythe to see if he will be working with him. He sees that the man leaves after he is done with his work and assumes that people get work done better alone “as all must be/ whether they work together or apart” (line 9, 10).
