Tierra, Thank you for your response. Your feedback regarding the OD Plan for the Robert F. Kennedy High School is appreciated, as are your kind words. As you pointed out in your response, we broke down the OD Plan into a three day intervention with a significant amount of time spent on the group’s collaborative development of a strategy (Dortch, 2015). The first two days are focused on setting the stage for why and OD intervention is needed, the development of a school mission, overarching objectives and a twelve point directional statement that will drive the overall activities of each individual at the school. In your feedback to the OD Plan, you stated, “I would suggest that once a mission statement is created, the staff creates some goals”(Dortch, 2015, para.1). We could not agree more. On day two of our OD plan, the fourth and fifth steps outline the development of goals in both a collaborative and individual environment. Step four provides an opportunity for the housemasters and department heads to pair up and discuss how their individual roles work to support the directional statement for the organization (Hand & Metallinos, 2015). Step five of the plan provides an opportunity for “each individual will work independently to write objectives for their own roles” (Hand & Metallinos, 2015, p.7). In this context, we are using the words objectives interchangeably with goals. As you correctly pointed out from Schmuck, et al. (2012), “conflicts of goals and values disable an organization” (as cited by Dortch, 2015, para.1). While goals can help ensure that everyone in an organization is moving together in the
