After attending the academy for four years he graduated. He then was introduced to Mary Cutis and they later got married. She was the great granddaughter of George and Martha Washington. Robert E. Lee and Mary Cutis had seven children together three sons whose names were George Washington Cutis Lee, William Henry Fitzhugh Lee, and Robert E. Lee, Jr. He then had four daughters whose names were Annie Carter Lee, Mildred Childe Lee, Mary Cutis Lee, and Eleanor Agnes Lee. Later on he was able to become a member of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
