Robert Deon Blanchard Research Paper

Robert Deon Blanchard, wow what a name, but what does it mean and where did it come from? When I was younger, I learned that my first name, Robert, was given to me because my dad’s name is Robert. The name Deon was given to me by my mom, who was a huge fan of the football star Deion Sanders. Because she favored the athlete so much, she decided to name me after him, but her intention was to spell my name exactly like he spelled his name. Not knowing that his name was spelled with an “I”, she wrote my name on the birth certificate DEON. Despite my prior knowledge of my first and middle name, I am still curious to learn about my last name, because I have absolutely no knowledge of it, and the origin of my first and middle name. By using the Internet, a personal interview, and a book, I was able to discover interesting facts about my names.
What I Learned I started my research by looking up information on my first name, Robert. I found it very easy to find interesting information due to the fact that Robert is such a common name. The name hails from the Germanic name Hrodebert meaning “bright fame.” I found this surprising because I thought the name would originate in Britain not Germany. The Normans were

I found out that the name originated from Africa, but I could not find was its meaning was. So I continued researching, but I changed the spelling to DION. This is where I found the most information on my middle name. I learned that my name is a short form of Dionysios, which is a Greek name. I never would have guessed that my name had Greek roots. This was the name of a 4th century tyrant of Syracuse, and it has been used in the United States since the middle of the 20th century, which is the era I was born in (Behindthename). After concluding my research on my middle name, I started looking for information on my last

The surname Ross has four possible origins, though the most possible origin is Scottish. In early Scotland, Ross was a commonly used word used to put a label on the inhabitants of a unit of upper Scotland called Ross-shire, the name meaning “promontory headland” or peninsula. This name later evolved into the Scottish Clan Ross, which were completed with their own coat of arms and motto: “Spem Successus Alit” or “success nourishes hope.” While the clan was eventually torn apart, many married, passing their names down through generations as a popular surname. Other possible but less likely origins include: an evolution of the Anglo-Saxon word Rozzo meaning renown, an English-welsh surname (which probably descended from the Scottish root), or…

    King Arthur Origin

The origin of the name Arthur remains a matter of debate. Some suggest it is derived from the Roman nomen gentile (family name) Artōrius, of obscure and contested etymology[2] (but possibly of Messapic[3][4][5] or Etruscan origin[6][7][8]). Some scholars have noted that the legendary King Arthur's name only appears as Arthur, or Arturus, in early Latin Arthurian texts, never as Artōrius (although the Classical Latin Artōrius became Arturius in some Vulgar Latin dialects). However, this may not say anything about the origin of the name Arthur, as Artōrius would regularly become Art(h)ur when borrowed into Welsh.[9] Another possibility is that it is derived from a Brittonic patronym *Arto-rīg-ios (the root of which, *arto-rīg- "bear-king" is to be found in the Old Irish personal name Art-ri) via a Latinized form Artōrius.[10] Less likely is the commonly proposed derivation from Welsh arth "bear" + (g)wr "man" (earlier *Arto-uiros in Brittonic); there are phonological difficulties with this theory—notably that a Brittonic compound name *Arto-uiros should produce Old Welsh *Artgur and Middle/Modern Welsh *Arthwr and not Arthur (in Welsh poetry the name is always spelled Arthur and is exclusively rhymed with words ending in -ur—never words ending in -wr—which confirms that the second element cannot be [g]wr "man").[11][12]…
