Robert Cormier’s We All Fall Down was published in 1991 but occurs at an earlier time period in the towns of Burnside and Wickburg. Although published in 1991, the setting is believed to have been at an earlier date, most likely the late 1980s because of Buddy’s alcoholism, the mall, and the book being published in 1991. My first impression while reading this book was that it must be during the1990s because of how the Jerome daughters dress. Although sweaters were popular in the 1990s, a grunge look is more prevalent while pastel sweaters are not considered passé in the 1980s.
