Logic grew up surrounded by discrimination, being born a biracial child to a Caucasian mother and African American father, his childhood was filled with everyone telling him who and who he couldn’t be. Logic became interested in rap music at a young age, releasing his first official mixtape in December of 2010. In Logic’s most recent album ‘Everybody’, He preaches about themes most artists tend to stay away from, diving deep into the topics of Mental health, Racism, Equality, and many more controversial topics. Logic released a song off of that album titled ‘Black Spiderman’, in which he states, “This song is the celebration of unity and a world built upon division”(Mass …show more content…
During the first verse, Logic raps about, “ I ain't here to pick and choose/I ain't here to sing the blues/I'm just here to spread the clues/I'm just here to spread the news”(Everybody,2017) which is another way of him saying that his song isn’t meant to isolate any certain races, religions, sexual orientations, etc. It’s meant to callout the underlying facts and bring light to them. Later in the song, Logic goes on to say ” I just wanna be free/Not a slave to the stereotype/All alone in my room in the middle of the night/I don’t have the words but my stereo might/I don’t wanna be black/I don’t wanna be white/I just wanna be a man today”(Everybody,2017), People form a preconceived idea from the moment they meet someone, typically based off of stereotypes. What Logic means in this verse, is that he wants everyone to be separated from society’s preconceived labels and not a slave to their stereotypes, allowing people to create more subjective ideas rather than following the idea of the crowd, a large stepping stone to

Based on predominantly sex, gender, and race, stereotypes are undoubtedly present in our society today. Rappers are stereotypically associated with money, drugs, women, and occasionally violence. Rap/hip-hop artist Logic is relatively new to the hip-hop/rap scene, but differentiates himself from this stereotype through his lyricism and concept. His second album, “The Incredible True Story”, dicates a meaningful story sequentially from tracks one to eighteen. He developed a story about Earth’s nuclear destruction and how the remaining 5,000,000 people relocate to a space station in 2065 after which the two narrators of the audio-cinematic experience, Thomas, the pilot, and Kai, an infantryman, take a journey through the galaxy to discover an inhabitable planet called Paradise.…

Even though this meaning of this song is different than “Strange Fruit” would be, it still has some elements on the song present in his version. West shows that even though most black people are very successful now and making a living out of themselves, they still have to face the oppression and anger of white people sorely because of the color of their skin. Even though things are much calmer now than in the 1930’s, African-Americans are still being harassed, judged, and even shot at. So in a way, Kanye is trying to say that no matter what we do, or what position that we are in at work or how much money that we have, People are always going to treat us different because they only see one thing-the color of your…

This introspective song addresses many issues of inequality, racism, ethnicity, and identity in the African American community. Wale begins his song by declaring that he still has a chip on his shoulder due to the quotas of many major labels that doubted him and only look for someone to boost their profits with pop singles. This is a case of institutional racism, in which minority groups are at a severe disadvantage. “There’s not a lot of ethnicity in the industry, as far as the higher ups go, and those guys are great at marketing and doing what they do, but a lot…

He is telling us to create a change of mindset in this world. The way Logic sings these lyrics are very important to the subtext of the lyrics and song as a whole. Since the song is more upbeat and positive it shows the level of being satisfied with himself not caring what people think but beyond that is the point of making a change on stereotyping in the world. Stereotypes are present throughout all races, genders, sexualities and cultures. For instance, assuming a man who wears turban is automatically a terrorist or even taking it more basic and saying all muslims are terrorists.…
