Fifteen-year-old Bobby Phillips wakes up one morning to find that, to his surprise, he's become invisible. He tells his parents, who are obviously pretty concerned about the whole thing, but end up going to work anyway (what?). Because he's left home alone, Bobby bundles up and goes to the library, where he runs into a blind girl named Alicia who is the one person who can't tell that he's invisible.
Later on, he comes home and exchanges some tense words with his dad, telling him that it was kind of messed up that they just went to work instead of staying home with him. His dad feels badly about it and tells Bobby that he's going to go pick up his mom, and that they'll all have dinner together. Bobby waits at the house for them and turns on the news to see

He narrows down the list of possible suspects to his electric blanket, and calls Sears headquarters to ask for the list of people who have complained about the blanket. They won't give it to him, so he and Alicia hatch a plan to break into the legal department and get the list of names.
They sneak in and Bobby starts calling through the list. He reaches a woman named Sheila who had the same thing happen to her three years ago… and it hasn't gone away yet. Yikes. She promises him to secrecy, but at least Bobby now knows that the electric blanket is definitely the cause. He tells Alicia about this, and she suggests that he try out the blanket again, just to see what happens—after all, it's not like he can get any more invisible than he already is.
Bobby falls asleep with the blanket plugged in, but is woken up by loud banging. The police have come in with a search warrant to look for Bobby in his house. When they enter his room, everyone is startled to find that Bobby is there—and naked. Bobby's mom tells the police that he just got back from Florida and that she wants them to leave right

The film Azucar Amarga opens with protagonist, Gustavo, looking at himself in the mirror. A photograph of Fidel Castro wedged behind the mirror makes up half of Gustavo’s face, being one of the director’s first clues to Gustavo’s love for Castro and communist Cuba. Gustavo is Cuba’s ideal “new man”; a term coined by the famous Che Guevara to describe a “selfless and cooperative, obedient and hardworking, gender-blind, incorruptible, non-materialistic, and anti-imperialist”[1] man. Gustavo truly believes in the revolution; he studies hard in hopes for a scholarship to study aeronautical engineering in Prague, he tries to convince his father to continue being a state employed psychiatrist instead of beginning a new job in the tourist industry,…

Lois Green Carr, Russell R. Menard, and Lorena S. Walsh’s Robert Cole’s World: Agriculture and Society in Early Maryland, provides an in-depth study of the plantation established by Robert Cole, his family as well as his servants in seventeenth century Maryland. Cole and his family were English Catholics that had relocated from England to the New World because of the system of agriculture the Chesapeake was capable of producing. The Cole plantation account provides readers with an understanding of what was produced on the plantation, what was sold, and what was purchased. Cole’s life in Maryland was cut short, as was the life of many individuals who risked the harsh Chesapeake conditions to attempt at achieving economic success. We are able…

Invisibility, defined as, “not visible; not perceptible by the eye; withdrawn from or out of sight; hidden,” can describe physical or metaphorical things or situations. For example, in the novel Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, by J.K Rowling, the protagonist, Harry, has a cloak of invisibility, which makes him physically invisible. In contrast, someone who feels like an outcast to society could feel socially invisible, which is an example of metaphorical invisibility. To add on to physical and social transparency, relationships can also build up invisibility. For instance, if a child hides things and doesn’t talk to their parents about important things in their life, the relationship between the child and their parents develops invisibility.…

Personally, I found agreeance in what Wright said throughout the first two chapters. Something that related to my own life, and what I have witnessed was Christians having a distorted view of Jesus. Wright speaks about Jesus not being sports team (Wright 9). What that implies is that Christians cheer for Jesus when He performs great miracles and blesses them and boo when He allows them to get sick, lose a parking spot, or fail a test. I can attest to doing this, and it is something that is utterly selfish.…
