The problems and issues that are arising in Robbie’s case is he has a drinking problem. His parents found out from counseling that his buddies and him would drink every weekend. The parents thought this was not a frequently. However, after his TBI Robbie is feeling hopeless and has picked drinking on the weekend up again. If he begins to drink again this could cause more health problems. He has already suffered a TBI from a car wreck. His parents have warned him about the risk of drinking and driving. The major issue is he is needing treatment. Mom and dad can afford treatment however; Robbie may not be compliant with treatment.

Role Confusion: prior to his car wreck he was a successful high school student, played football, popular and sociable. This is his identity he was to attend college and his career path was to become an attorney. His role had change when he experienced a car wreck. He lost his identity that he had known. Industry (competence) vs. Inferiority: after the TBI he is unable to play the sports he once did with his dad. He may feel inferior since he cannot bond with his dad in the way he was able to. Yet again, it is a process of learning his new role. Intimacy vs. Isolation: his parents are taking care of him. He is resistance to his parent’s constant supervision and feels that he will not ever date
