The weather on the Mount Everest started off well. Within the space of five minutes, it changed from really a good day with a little bit of winde to desperate conditions. It was horrible, with winds up to 80 miles an hour and was 30 below zero. The storm went on for 48 hours. One of the reasons why it gets so cold up on top of the mountain is because there is no protection on the top. And nothing to stop the winds. That is one of the reasons why Rob Hall and all part of his crew died. The weather was freezing and that is why many people died on the mountain.

One of the many climbers that died on that mountin was very experience climber Rob Hall. But it was not just him that died on that mountain 4 other climbers also died on Mount Everest but that was the most people to ever die on Everest at one time. The expeditions began a frantic descent toward the safety of camp, even as their two experienced guides remained high on the mountain assisting other climbersPeople who have all run out of oxygen, some of them really start collapsing, and those of us who are still able to walk try and pick them up, make them keep walking,. That is probably the worst thing that ever happened on that mountain at that time. The reason why this tragedy is so important is because of all of the lives lost on the mountain. This is why the 1996 tragedy is so important, because of the loss of life and the people who died and what the conditions were
