Roadmaps As A Metaphor Of Becoming A Social Worker

Life is a journey with stops along the way, but if you knew what to expect it would make life a little easier. This is where roadmaps comes into play and it helps with various routes to reach your destination/goal. The roadmap is a metaphor define as (Williams & Menendez, 2015) “a metaphor can be viewed as simply one person’s description of something as ‘like’ something else” (p.71). The client is doing the driving and also picks the route to follow. The coach provide the best map for the client to follow.

The coach will set goals for the client to meet and how long it will take the client to reach those goals. For example, Sam wants to become a social worker. He has no idea how to become a social worker. Sam do not have a high school diploma.
