The steps of transcription
The weak hydrogen bonds between the bases in DNA break and this causes the DNA to unwind or unzip
The unwinding of the molecule has now caused both DNA bases to be exposed. Only one strand of DNA acts as a template to construct the RNA molecule
The free nucleotides within the nucleus then form a bond with the new mRNA strand which is forming from the DNA strand this is where the complimentary base pairs are formed
Once the process is completed the messenger RNA molecule detaches from the DNA
