Rivers Solomon's Article I Have Diabetes, Am I To Blame?

In the United States alone “ twenty nine million” Americans have been diagnosed as diabetic. The American nation can not blame diabetics for their health choices nor the genetic outcomes which lead to diabetes. Not only because judgements are cruel, but because also many Americans simply may not have the ability to properly care for the body system. Rivers Solomon's’ article, “I have Diabetes, Am I to blame?” (2016) conveys how people are quick to judge those who are diabetic without understanding the facts of the terrible disease. Solomon backs up her writing with facts and personal experiences such as diets, blood tests, and unfavorable judgement. The author’s purpose is to point out how she did not choose to have the severe health issue: given the emotive language used in the article an educated audience with little knowledge of the health issue is targeted. Solomon's point is unique and educational; her thoughts on how she did not choose diabetes and how people judge her is based on facts and sentiments concerning her health issue.
