The war between the Seven Kingdoms seems to only be getting worse. Beyond The Wall, the free people are preparing for war, and with them is Jon Snow. His leader told him to do as they say, which resulted in him being killed by Jon. In Riverrun, Catelyn has released her son, King Robb’s, hostage in hopes to get her daughters back from Cersei and Joffrey. These events, and many more are causing Chaos in Westeros. In this journal, I will be predicting, questioning, and connecting. First of all, I will be predicting the fate of Sansa Stark. I predict that she will not marry Tyrion, like Lord Tywin wants wants her to do. One reason for that prediction is Sansa’s plan to marry Willas. Margaery has plans to take Sansa to Highgarden so that she may …show more content…
Primarily, she is expected to act feminine, but she refuses to do so. A great example for this is when she is given new clothing after escaping from Harrenhal. These clothes include a dress adorned with acorns and a delicate lavender dress. Her distaste for the clothing is obvious. In a similar way, my style does not include complex or girly dresses. To continue, Arya does not do what the other young ladies do. Her older sister, Sansa, tried to teach her sister needlepoint. Rather than trying to perfect it, Arya takes on sword fighting. She has been asked what she likes to do, and she replied with, “Needlework...I lost Needle. My new one’s not as good” (Martin 305). She is not speaking of actual needle point; however, she is referencing her sword named Needle. I connect to this because I have many hobbies that can and have been seen as “boyish”. Ultimately, Arya dressed in male attire until coerced to do otherwise. She disguised herself as a boy to prevent being caught and continued to dress like that until she had no choice. Likewise, I dress in a very casual manner. Though I am not being hunted by the royal family at the moment, I feel more comfortable in less feminine attire. These were just some of the multiple ways that I connect with Arya

In her book Living Downstream, Sandra Steingraber blends her narrative writing style with scientific research and data to provide an accessible account of the cancer epidemic in the United States and its link to the environment. It is Steingraber’s belief that it is essential for human beings to not only question, but also understand how a lifetime of incremental exposures to chemicals like DDT, PCBs, and atrazine increase an individual’s risks of developing cancer at some point in their life. Throughout the course of the book Steingraber balances her personal experience growing up in rural Tazwell County Illinois, her diagnosis with bladder cancer in her early twenties, and how her environmental exposure to certain industrial and agricultural…

In the outset of “The Secret River”, Kate Grenville conveys William as a person who steals from others in order for his family to survive, which displays the fact that William is a well respected person among the Thornhills but in the eyes of society he is a thief. However, as the story unfolds, Thornhill shifts to be conveyed as more of a greedy thief and dispossessor of other people who thinks more about himself rather than his family despite having his own opinion on what he thinks is right for his family. Our final team project focuses on creating a Twitter page of memes about the Lannister family from Game of Thrones. We created our memes that highlight the things about the Lannister family that we felt were the most important. Our group chose to focus on the Lannister family because, throughout this class, we have been very interested in this house and their dynamic. We think that the Lannister house also includes many parallels to the real world and we felt we would be able to comment on things happening in reality through our memes of the family. Through our memes, we have made several connections between the Lannister family and people and events.…

The fantasy series A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin portrays war, politics, and human nature in a morally ambiguous (and realistic) light. The series follows many characters in a fantasy world, each intertwined in a grand power struggle often referred to as the “Game of Thrones.” Amidst court intrigue, assassination plots, blood feuds, and illicit betrayals, characters in A Song of Ice and Fire make decisions that are not necessarily good nor evil. Tyrion Lannister encapsulates this moral ambiguity that pervades the series. He is a complex, dynamic character who cannot be defined by one trait.…
