Putting a helmet on kids before letting them smash into each other does not make football safer. Recently, people are realizing the risks of letting their children play football. Initially, people didn’t know the lasting impact football can have on players’ health. With new technology, studies have shown that playing football can lead to lasting problems. Parents should not let their children play football because the risks outweigh the benefits. Lately, people are seeing the effects football can have are long-term. Recent studies have shown how common it is for former football players to have PBA. According to former football player Barry Sanders’s article in USA Today, PBA is a neurologic disorder that causes uncontrolled emotional outbursts of laughing or crying. These studies have demonstrated how PBA has negatively affected their relationships with people by making them unable to control their emotional outbursts. Also, the risks are unavoidable when players are exposed to the violence of the game. Head trauma is inevitable in the sport of football. In Sanders’s article he refers to a study done by the Gridiron Greats Association on former football players. According to the study, all players had experienced head trauma playing football, and one-third have shown symptoms of PBA.
