Rising Cost of College Tuition For at least a century, tuition at selective colleges and universities has risen annually by two or three percent. At the same time, required fee charges rose significantly in many states and some states reduced their student financial aid programs. The reason for this is because state spending for public college and universities has dropped. This is affecting individuals because they are not able to afford it. Now colleges are starting to see a downward trend in admissions enrollment and graduation ratings (Hoar, 2013). It is time to get rising of college tuition under control. Many people are very angry with how the college tuition is drastically increasing. Although, some have concluded that rising tuition has a direct correlation with declining enrollments and graduation ratings, it does not (Martin, 2002). Recent studies have confirmed that. In 2008, two professors, Dr. Steven Hemelt and Dr. David Marcotte, completed one of the major academic treatises of the 2000s. It analyzed the relationship between tuition and enrollment at four-year, public schools. Forbes stated that the sizes and costs of college administrators have soared in recent decades. Inefficiency has a role in some schools, but a better explanation is that the public has increasingly demanded services that require more staff. Some examples are around the clock IT services, on-campus luxuries such as all-night food shops, and on-campus living amenities such as post offices and on-campus banks. These services may be valuable, but they each contribute to the cost of tuition (Hoar,
