THE RISE OF ADOLF HITLER
The third reich or third regime was a terminology used by Hitler and the Nazi party to describe their domination of Germany from 1933-1945. The regime was born on January 28, 1933, when Hitler, leader of the National Socialists (Nazi party), the largest political party of Germany, demanded for himself the Chancellorship of the then democratic republic [1]. Hitler was positive that this regime would last for at least a thousand years, however its actual tenure was a little over twelve years. Born on 20 April 1889, in Braunau am Inn on the Austria-Hungarian border, he had the dream of uniting all the German speaking population of Europe. His father, Alois Hitler Sr., was a customs official and wanted his son to follow his footsteps. However, young Hitler was inspired by the arts and wanted to become a painter. This clash of aspirations led to intense father-son conflicts, and in the end Hitler decide to move to Vienna to pursue his passion, and took the entrance examination for the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts in October, 1907. However, he was unable to crack the entrance on account of his drawing skills being unsatisfactory. He took the test again the following year, but the result did not change. After the death of his mother in 1908, Hitler decided to pack up and move to Vienna.
This period between 1909 and 1913 has been described by him as the saddest period of his life as he was forced to make a living without having any work skills. Despite this, he was not interested in learning a trade or take up any kind of regular employment. He was forced to live in the poor unsanitary quarters of the city, and described hunger to be his faithful companion.
