In a recent position, we used to open up “idea” contest to the entire office and put a free lunch on the line for whomever came up with the best one. It is always interesting to hear the crazy, and totally random ideas, people come up with…and those are generally the ones that help drive the thinking behind the really amazing ideas.

Starting with initiation sounds like a crazy and totally random idea too… that would have definitely won a free

Recently the patient was given an authorization to not use stairs. This authorization was given so that he would not cause further injury delaying his SRD. I am of the opinion that he could use stairs; however, preventative measures were thought to be necessary to prevent possibility of further injury prior to SRD, thus eliminating his capability of using stairs for bathing at time of discharge. Therefore, I feel that our use of no stairs now as a preventative or a prophylactic approach so that he will be able to use stairs once discharged back into civilian life.…

Craig, there is so much information to cover in the Organizational Timeline. I found it interesting Mary Follett was an American social worker and President Theodore Roosevelt had her as his “personal consultant on managing not-for-profit, non-governmental, and voluntary organizations” (Boundless, Behaviorism: Follett, Munsterberg, and Mayo, n.d.). She believed that managers should empower employees instead of telling them what to do. In my place of work, we all have our responsibilities and know what it takes to get the job done. We are currently undergoing a new system and all are being trained.…

I suffered through a period which left me lacking motivation and purpose in life. Friends and family told me a great deal of things I should do, but none of it appealed to me. Though I want to help people, I didn’t want to be a doctor; though history appeals to me, I didn’t think I would enjoy history in academia. Following a great deal of reflection and deliberation, I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Among the lessons learned during my enlistment were intricacies of the professional responsibilities of a basic “boots on the ground” infantryman, a team leader of three other Marines, and subsequently a squad leader of twelve Marines.…

My last two years of high school, I joined the Multi-Cultural Leadership Club, I was rather reluctant to be honest but I grew to love it. My first year in the club we started off with raising money to go to the Cesar Chavez Leadership Conference, (CCLC), at Western Oregon University. The CCLC is a conference where schools all over the state come to encourage kids to continue their education. To raise money we did car washes, sold clam chowder, and sold raffle tickets where we raffled off donated gift cards from a wide range of restaurants in our community. We were all competitive, trying to sell as many tickets as possible.…

The Discipline of Innovation by Peter F. Drucker highlights some key concepts of innovation and facilitates a discussion of sorts regarding how much of innovation is inspiration and how much of it is actually hard work. Innovation in itself is described early on as more of a matter of thinking than of doing. After expending effort to describe the essence of innovation and what it truly is, Drucker begins to discuss the fact that innovation has several specific sources. Furthermore, the remainder of the article dives deeply into several different sources of innovation; three of those sources are known to present themselves from within a company or organization, these being unexpected occurrences, incongruities, process needs, along with industry…
