It has only been sixty-nine years since sports were integrated by Jackie Robinson and it seems so long ago but this pivotal event is only two generations removed from my generation. Based off this one event, sent a ripple effect throughout all other sports as well, because it allowed many to see what African American new and that was that we are just as good or if not better than our white counterparts when it come sot sports. Yes many of us know that Iverson has been jail many times, but what is most fascinating is his arrest at the age of nineteen. One night well at the bowling with friends the nineteen year old Iverson was involved in a huge fight that ultimately lead to his arrest. Many don’t know how the fight started but according to Iverson in the 30 for 30 film, it started when a white person call him a n***** and that from that point on Iverson started to fight the person of a group that call him the “n” word. Fighting is not always the way to solve problems, but when you are disrespected someone to such degree; especially uttering such a raciest term, what else can you do but fight to get your point across. Yes fighting in a public vicinity will lead to trouble for anyone, but to give Iverson five years for defending not only himself but also standing up for his race is utterly and completely preposterous.
