Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, often called Rio, is a culture filled city with many enjoyable places and the famous statue of Cristo Redentor. As stated in “Brazil,” Masquerade balls started in Rio around 1846 introduced by a french actor that lived in the city (23-26). Rio is known for their excellent parties and parades. They even get to take the day off on the day of the big carnival. The parties are not the only thing that tourist find appealing. The most famous landmark called the Christ Redeemer is often found cowering over Rio. Rio also has many fresh markets and colorful birds gliding above. Many People walk downtown to eat the variety of foods Rio has to offer along with a colorful carnival scheduled once a year. The carnivals are everlasting and filled with dazzling floats. The bright, colorful macaws are favored and incorporated in the floats along with dancers wear vibrant costumes. “Brazil is a place known for its diversity, its annual Carnival celebrations, it’s soccer players and fans."
