The short story, “Rikki-Tikki-Tavi,” by Rudyard Kipling focuses on a brave and curious mongoose named RIkki-Tikki whose main purpose is helping and saving his family. Meanwhile a wicked cobra named Nagaina wants to overrun the bungalow for her, her husband, and her children. Both characters show passionate personalities and traits toward saving their families.
For example, Rikki-Tikki was brave to even fight all three snakes to keep his family safe. “Rikki-Tikki held on with his eyes shut, for now he was quite sure he was dead; but the head did not move and the big man picked him up and said, ‘It’s the mongoose again, Alice; the little chap has saved our lives now!’” (Kipling 21).
