Rikki Tavi

The theme is the subject of the story. So, the obvious theme for the small story “Rikki-Tikki-Tavi” by Rudyard Kipling is good versus evil. This is the theme because Rikki, the mongoose and the protagonist, is good as an angel. While Nag and Nagina, the king cobras in this short story and the antagonists, are as evil as the devil. Now I can see where some people might think courage and fear is the theme. It makes more sense to use good versus evil because the main characters possess both good and evil values. Rikki is very protective of Teddy and his family, while in the rising action he also protects the other animals in the garden. That shows the good and protective side in Rikki Tikki Tavi. He is also courageous because he could have been frightened, but instead he stayed and battled the cobras. Yes, he is protective and courageous, but he is also loyal. Such as selfishness, threatening, and determined. Nagina is selfish because she sends Nag into the house because she didn't want to perish. The dad also has a little bit of selfishness because he could be protecting his son but instead he is depending on a mongoose. And he pokes the snake with the stick instead of trusting that Rikki had already killed the snake. Rikki is threatening to the cobras because he doesn't show any fear. The cobras were threatening to Darzee, Darzee’s wife, Chuchundra, and also to the family. During the falling action Rikki is determined to kill or make Nag and Nagina leave. And Nag and Nagina were determined to kill the family. So all the characters had different
