In any story, theme would be the central idea. To find out what it is you have to look deep in the text very thoroughly. In the story Rikki-tikki-tavi, by Rudyard Kipling, there could be several themes. It is obvious the theme is everyone has enemies. My interpretation of some people would be thinking of a total different theme. I can see how some people would think the main theme would be good versus evil, because the mongoose, Rikki, is good and the cobras, Nag and Nagaina, are evil. On the other hand, since my theme is everyone has enemies, there are quotes in the text that support my statement. The family has enemies, by Nag and Nagaina. Unfortunately, many kids have to suffer from enemies out in the world just like the characters in this story. The bullies in this story would be Nag and Nagaina, because they treat smaller animals rudely and differently in the garden. I know my theme is everyone has
