As a parent, I can recall the birth of my children. As the child gets older you begin to teach them Godly principles that will help them live the right way. This is done so when they become an adult they will not stray away from the teachings. After God created Adam and Eve they were given instructions to follow to help keep them grounded to God. As a result of not following the instructions, sin was introduced to the world. Sin became the downfall of humankind, but Jesus Christ was sent to become our salvation by freeing us from sin by paying the ultimate price of death by being crucified on the cross. Tillich describes Sin as a separation. This separation will cause us to be separated from God. Is being separated from God the only thing that occurs when we sin? What else are we separated from? We can become separated from ourselves, individual lives, and our relationship with God. If a person does not have a relationship with God it is difficult for them to be aware of the sin they are committing. If a person chooses to get drunk every day, this person is just looking to fulfill his/her needs not realizing the affects alcohol can have on one’s life. You can become separated from your family because of how you act when you are drunk. You are separating from yourself because you are now relying on alcohol to make you happy and keep you going on. You are separated from God because alcohol has now become your deity because it is consuming and taking full control of your life. When I look back on my personal life at the things I did prior to having a relationship with Jesus Christ, I realized my life was fully grasped in sin. When you live a life outside of Christ the things you do seems to be normal because you are looking for the instant gratification, moments of pleasure, and fun, not realizing the things you are doing are wrong in the eyes of God. When our eyes are opened up to the sinful nature through the lens of Christ that is when we can try and change the way we live, think, and conduct ourselves. We
