Right To Play
Right To Play is a organization that uses the power of play to educate children that are in difficult and unpleasant situations such as war and poverty. Right To Play is a non-profit organization. This Organization was founded in 2000 by Johann Olav Koss. Johann Olav Koss is a four-time Olympic gold medalist and social entrepreneur. Right To Play works in more than 20 countries including Benin, Burundi, Canada, China, Ethiopia, Ghana, Jordan, Lebanon, Liberia, Mali, Mozambique, Pakistan, the Palestinian Territories (West Bank and Gaza), Panama, Rwanda, Tanzania, Thailand and Uganda. They have taken it upon themselves to help the less fortunate people in our world. This organization deals specifically with young children and youth that have gone through very tough things such as war and poverty. This program also helps teach very valuable things that these children will use for the rest of there lives. An example would be teaching kids to wash their hands after using the toilet regularly. Only 59% of kids do this regularly that are not supported by Right To Play. 82% of kids that are supported by Right to play say that they wash their hand regularly. This is a big difference and it shows us the impact that Right To Play has on these people affected. Another example of this would be that only 50% of youth that are not in the program know ways of preventing HIV from sexual transmission. 92% of kids that were supported by Right To Play knew ways of preventing HIV from sexual transition. Respect for human life relates to Right to Play because this is what Right to Play is all about. They believe that there should not be as much of a dichotomy between the education of the less fortunate and the wealthy. They believe that everybody has the right to be educated and live a joyful and fun childhood, no matter what circumstances you live in. Rights and Responsibilities relates to Right to play because as catholics, we believe that it is our responsibility to care for the less fortunate and provide them with their basic needs such as food, shelter, and clothing, employment, health care and education. This is exactly what Right to Play is all about. Right to play takes it upon themselves to carry out what they think is their responsibility as human beings t by giving education and other basic necessities to people that are not able to get these things by
