After seen the video “Rights to Passage”, the children of Nicaragua were one that hurt me most. Besides been neglected and abandoned by family and society, they are abused by adults that claim to be their own protectors. Usually, girls are the most affected ones. The sexual abuse of girls is the expression of gender inequality evident in sexist societies such as Nicaragua. Many of them leave home to escape from their own family abuses. Once in the streets, they are exposed to a series of other types of abuses, such as child labor, predators, violence, and drug abuse. Many of those children and adolescents look for the American dream in search of a new reality. They are helpless children that believe they will have a wonderful life in the United
