Every American citizen has rights, and one of them is to possess a firearm. Several people have attempted to take away the right to bear arms. One of the most recent was President Barack Obama, attempting to take guns away from the people who are elderly, have disabilities, or rely on Social Security. He claims that these people are dangerous, but I don’t see how someone who grew up with a gun, hunting can be more dangerous than anyone on the street who has never actually held a gun before. I personally believe that he just wants to believe that everyone who is mentally unbalanced must be on Social Security, which is untrue, and why would that affect the elderly? If that were the case, why would the constitution specifically mention the right to bear arms? He claims that if someone has a knife and another person if feeling threatened then they have the right to defend themselves, not necessarily with guns, but with any weapon. That is true, but what about the second amendment, which says, “...the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed,” specifically mentions bearing arms, which are most commonly referred to as guns.
