“Ride Your F#%king Bike – The Movie. Powered by Chainsaw.” Directed by Ryan Marcus. Featuring Fox athletes Josh Bryceland, Josh Lewis, Kirt Voreis and other Fox teammates, the movie documents three weeks on the road with a wild crew up for anything. Filming kicked off at Fox Headquarters in Irvine, California and continued north through Oregon and Washington before crossing the Canadian border and reaching Vancouver Island. The movie is dedicated to Steve Smith, aka Chainsaw, a World Cup champion gravity mountain bike athlete who unexpectedly passed away in May 2016. It is a film of friendship. Ryan Marcus uses many different techniques in his film. This includes, camera position, camera movement, raw audio, music, slow motion filming and a few more.
At the beginning of the film, a montage of small clips show Steve Smith a couple years before he passed away. During this montage the narrator was talking about his life. This enhances meaning into the film and makes the audience have sympathy for the friends and family of Steve Smith. A shot …show more content…
They know that Steve would want them to all have fun. So they use costumes, super tight yellow clothes and do this race. This is for the audience to laugh and to enjoy the movie. A little bit of change from the constant biking. It is a massive laugh and they all enjoy it. For the part of the race that I am looking, at the shot is a mid shot. This is to get all the competitors in the shot and to show the scenery. They have currently finished a wheelbarrow race and about to grab their bikes. It is in slow motion to make it look intense even though it’s a social event. During the race the director uses close ups and low angles on the riders to change things up. The important thing about this race is that they are doing it in memory of steve smith. They are all having fun because that is what he wants his friends to be
