Rick Yancey's The Last Star

The last time I cried was during the middle of the summer when I was traveling in Europe with my mom and my dad. It was a usual day, and me and my dad had just arrived in Prague, while my mother left to get back to work. We were staying in a hotel when my dad left to get some food. At this time, it was around 11 am and I was exhausted after being on a train for the whole day after coming from Paris. While waiting in the hotel room, I decided to finish a book titled The Last Star by Rick Yancey.
The Last Star is the final book in a trilogy, that is about an alien apocalypse where aliens called the Others, are slowly exterminating all humans. One day a Mothership appears in the sky, and waves of death come. The 1st wave was a worldwide power

At one point she thought she was the only person left alive, and felt utterly alone. This is not only symbolic, but rather true. There is this machine that humans are hooked up to called Wonderland. This machine was created by the aliens and altogether goes through that person’s memories, which are then recorded. This was then used to break people, discover their darkest secrets, and to have a mental advantage over them. Cassie, in the end, was hooked up to Wonderland and she experienced the tens of thousands people’s memories that were recorded on there. In the end, she was in an unstable mental state for carrying so many memories, and died remembering all those people's lives. Altogether, I cried because of how she died and I loved her, and what it represented.
Many people likely think I am odd for crying over a book, but this series meant so much to me, even if it went downhill. Nevertheless, when I first started reading The Last Star I started seeing images, rather than words on a page. This then made me fall in love with the characters, and the concept much more. Moreover, The Last Star by Rick Yancey was a decent book, and I will always remember Cassie’s death and how my father looked at me when he came back and saw me sobbing over a

The book, The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey, begins with Cassie's Sullivan describing flashbacks in her life. She starts with small memories like her father gifting her a telescope and then shifts to thinking of how she wishes she was still the person she was before, the one that hadn't killed people, quite a dramatic change. So far in the book, I have read about the first three waves. The first wave destroys all the electronics on earth, the second destroys most of the world itself and the third one is a virus that kills of about seven billion people. These waves are caused by aliens.…

What do you truly believe in? This time-honored question is essentially taken into account in the vintage children’s picture story book, The Polar Express. The Polar Express is a hardcover children’s picture (which has been awarded with the Caldecott Medal) written and illustrated by the American illustrator and children’s book writer, Chris Van Allsburg, circa 1985. This rather serene and classical Christmas tale tailgates the abridged story of a young boy (whose name remains unidentified) who is awakened in the middle of the night on Christmas Eve by the sound of a mighty passenger train entitled “The Polar Express”, which ultimately journeys to the North Pole every year on Christmas Eve. Throughout the story, the young boy relentlessly ponders…

Minnesota is the state of hockey and most Minnesotans play hockey, but as a kid I often sneaked away from the Edina hornets rink to go watch the figure skaters in the east arena. Aside from what people see on tv figure skating is highly competitive, and it takes just as much mental as physical strength. I started taking lessons at the age of 8, and I learned the basics quickly. I was winning most of my competitions and passing all my test levels until the summer before my junior year. At 16 I still loved figure skating and had a great passion for it, but the results on my last ‘Moves In The Field’ test were to retry.…
