David Brisben a friend of Rick Ostrander talks about how education is a gateway to success. Christian colleges today also promote the economic value of a college education. But, Christian colleges disagree with modern cultures understanding of college. First, Christians do not believe college is for the "good life". Second, college isn't for everyone, some people find satisfaction in repairing engineers on cars or picking up trash. Third, Christian colleges do more than simply prepare students for successful careers. Finally, Christian learning is an intrinsic good rooted in the doctrine of creation. Each class you take helps to understand Christ better and more deeply love him. The second is we are called to care for and develop Gods creation. Many of your college courses, and particularly your major, will prepare you to assume your God-given role as a fellow cultivator of creation. The third is the study of creation includes the insight of non-believers. A popular slogan at Christian colleges is: "All truth is Gods truth, wherever it may be found." At a Christian college you will study a variety of subjects and scholars, even non-Christians will. The fourth is we glorify God by taking delight in his creation. Participating in Gods creation involves not just the intellect but the emotions. We have been uniquely created to thing about, to delight in, and to enjoy the creation the way God does. When we admire the Grand Canyon, kayak a mountain stream, or cook a savory meal, we express the reality of the imago deli. A purpose of a Christian college is to help develop the ability not just to understand but to delight in Gods
