Cracker! is a story in the point of view of a dog and a human. The three mian characters are a dog (Cracker), her owner (Willie), and her new handler (Rick Hanski). Born to a seven time best in show dad and a three time best in show mom Cracker has been the center of everyone's atention ever since she can remember. Cracker was originally named Magnificent Dawn of Venus. Venus is sold to winnie's uncle for $1,500. She is expected to follow in her parents footsteps. Until one day she breaks her leg on a chain and the show dog's life as a great show dog ends. Willie's uncle gives Venus to Willie as a birthday present. Willie originaly renamed Venus to Firecracker, but later is shortened to Cracker. Cracker expericinces a different type of being pampered and worshipped. Cracker loves her life.

Rick Hanski is an man determined to whip the world and nothing is going to get in his way. After Rick is assigned to Cracker they start out hating each other. Starting out as on of the worst dog teams of their platoon the quickly rise to become one of the best teams there is. During traning Cracker befreinds a dog named Tristie (handled by Cody), and Bruno (handled by Twenty-Twenty). The major clixmat in the story is when Rick and Cracker are ambushed in a routeen mission. Cracker is separated form Rick in fight and is kiddnpped, while Rick is injured in the leg. Amazingly after being completely disoriented, and at one point near death, Craker uses her training to find Rick. In the end of the story being reunited with Rick and saved form certain
