When the world went to hell with an outbreak of a zombie apocalypse in this fictional story line on AMC, strangers crossed paths in a world gone mad, decided to stick together in order to survive. As the team travels through the unknown world, they come face-to-face not only with the walking dead but they also encounter many heartless and lawless people that killed others for their resources and weapons. Instead of coming together to survive and thrive those lawless and heartless individuals resorted in violence to survive. The team consist of many individuals but the leaders are the ones that stood out and made their presence known. Rick possesses the natural ability to lead, organize, plan and execute the ideas and the necessary tasks that is needed in order for his team to survive. As a man of past law, Rick is a natural leader that understands the benefits of having a wide range of diversity and skills that are needed to survive. Rick quickly identifies the skills and abilities of everyone on the team and assigns certain people to do certain tasks that benefits the team as a whole. Rick knows how to listen and communicate with others on a more level playing field than his more aggressive right hand man Daryl. Daryl’s communication skills are that of a “doer” than a “talker”. Daryl wants instant results with the use of force than compared to Maggie. Maggie is more of a thinker and communicator that uses a more respectable approach than Daryl. Maggie is quick to support great ideas but yet questions those that are not-so-good ideas. Carol is almost a mirror image of Rick minus the forceful language. This is the patience and focus of being a housewife, pre-apocalypse, that comes naturally with her ability to communicate and listen well. Michonne is very similar to Daryl’s forceful ways of getting his point across. Michonne is more supportive when it comes to other people’s ideas compared to Daryl. A key challenge with multicultural teams is perceived authority.
