Nikolaus Drake, Richardson Memorial Scholarship is my scholarship of choice because of the amazing story behind it. Nikolaus Richardson showed his great leadership skills, and that’s what life is all about, being involved was a major role in his life along with mine. I am apart of FCCLA (Family, Career, Community, Leaders of America), bowling and volunteer groups. For example, being involved in FCCLA has been a great experience. Every year, each student does a star event on a topic and from there you go to competition. When you go to competitions you meet tons of kids from all over that share the same passions that you do. From this club, I have developed multiple leadership qualities and being a better person. In addition, with high school

I have had a lifelong passion for environmental issues that arose from a childhood spent amongst mountains, canyons, islands, and rivers. The Anacostia River near my home is dubbed “The Forgotten River,” for it has been transformed by neglect. It was integral to my childhood—my family canoed on the river, my crew team practiced on it, and my Eagle Scout project involved rehabilitating one of its wetlands. The river showed me that environmental issues are complex, involving science, social justice, politics, economics, and history. From a young age, I was stunned by my city’s apathy and saw a change that needed to occur.…

I was shown how to be prepared for CPR, how to read the blood pressure machine, and just learn about all the programs they have to offer. I actually did plenty of .research on nursing and I think Hinds is just the place for me .…
