Showcases like, but not limited to, The Young People’s Scholarship Show and The Rosemary Cheney Memorial Art Show allow them to do just that. Exhibits like these avail local young artists by not only promoting their work but also offering up to around $2,000 dollars in cash prizes. Typically, the society will buy the best in show artwork and put it on display at the Library.

Along with these showcases, the RCAS also conducts monthly meetings and art demonstrations at the Richardson Library.
Last night, the Art Society hosted a meeting in the Library Basement Program Room and artist Gail Delger demonstrated a how-to on Acrylic Collages.
Professionally, Delger has been painting since 1990. She is a member of the American Watercolor Society, Rocky Mountain Watermedia Society, Western Federation of Watercolor Society, and the Southwestern Watercolor Society. Several of her artwork has been accepted in numerous accredited art shows, including the Watercolor USA Show, National Watercolor Show, and many others. Recently, Delger has opened up her own art studio, LAST Art Gallery in McKinney. Delger also has a blog called BirdDo.
“It’s called BirdDo because birds are doing things,” Delger joked. “But I did take pictures of bird doo on my shoe to help give a visual.”
