Richard Wright is a shy six year old boy desperate for food and stumbles upon events but stands back up with pride in the end on the streets of Memphis. Furthermore, comes bad news along from Richard’s mom stating that now since Richard’s father has been gone for many days now, they’ll need to wait until Richard’s mom can get a job to buy the family food. However to make things a bit better than before, she tells Richard that he can shop for the family at the supermarket, with a smile on his face she shows him the way. While that may be true, the next day, he walks joyfully to the market when a gang of boys throw him to the ground and take his shopping money sending running home scared to see them again.
