Richard Rogers Research Paper

World renowned British Architect, Richard Rogers was a modernist who integrated his concern for advanced technology in his work. He described his high-tech approach as “celebrating the components of the structure”. He is well-known for his part in the Centre Pompidou in Paris (partner Renzo Piano) and the Lloyd’s of London Building in London. Richard George Rodgers was born July 23, 1933, in Florence Italy. Before studying at the Architectural Association School in 1953-1959, Richard severed in the British Army from eighteen to twenty years old. After receiving his Diploma of Architecture, he then married architect Su Brumwell. He continued his education on a Fulbright scholarship at Yale University School of Architecture, receiving his master’s degree in 1962. This would mark the end of his time as a student.
Rodgers has fallen in and out of partnerships throughout his career. From 1963 to 1968 Rogers opened his first partnership between Su Rogers, Norman and Wendy Foster, creating Team 4 (1963). Later, Renzo Piano formed a serious partnership with Rogers in 1970, soon dissolved in 1978. Within this time they collaborated on the design of the famed Pompidou Centre among many others. These include; the Royal Gold Medal for Architecture (1985), Arnold W. Brunner Memorial Prize (1989), Life Baron of the United Kingdom (1996), Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement (2006) , and Pritzker Architecture Prize (2007). The most intriguing occurred in 1991 when Queen Elizabeth II knighted Roger, becoming Lord Rogers of Riverside.
